HISTORY
The Stiftsgartenbier is named after the Bamberg Stiftsgarten (i.e. abbey garden), located within the former monastery complex on Michaelsberg. The original recipe also comes from the former brewery there—based on Bamberg’s oldest brewing tradition. The beer is brewed with Bamberg hops and hops from Spalt, which give it a pleasantly bitter note. The Stiftsgartenbier is intentionally left unfiltered to preserve its complex, full-bodied aroma. With an alcohol content of 5.7%, it is a typical beer of that era.
